French oak Flooring

Salvage Europe is Australia’s French Oak Flooring specialist we offering an exclusive range of genuine French Oak flooring products including solid French Oak flooring wide boards, cladding and solid French Oak stair materials. Selectively and carefully harvested, our sustainable and genuine French Oak forest products are as legendary as the forests in which they grew. Any selection from our genuine French Oak Flooring products, designed and manufactured in Australia from 100% solid French oak will continue the enduring traditions of France’s sustainable forests. France has been home to sustainable forest management for centuries, which means that French oak has a global reputation as a certified sustainable hardwood.

Our Wide Plank French Oak Flooring process

Once we have imported the PEFC certified French Oak planks of timber from our saw mill partner in France we precisely mill in Australia the French Oak timber to suit each individual order. Floorboards are 20mm thick and are 220mm wide. We can supply wide widths due to the age of our timber being over 200 years old. Lengths range up to 2.5 metres. The timber is kiln dried to a moisture content of between 8% to 11%.

Care and maintenance -

Maintaining your French Oak floors with the correct care routine is the easiest way to preserve its beauty and safeguard its longevity. From small every day spills and scuffs to the more hefty circumstances caused by pets and accidental damage.

The level of maintenance will depend on the level of traffic. Daily cleaning of the floor with a soft mop or vacuum cleaner will remove a lot of dust and/or sand particles. If a daily clean is not possible, then clients should be cautious with the amount of dirt brought onto the floor from foot traffic, as dirt is one of the main abrasives. Regular maintenance with floor soap every 2-4 weeks in daily used rooms is advised. In rooms with less traffic, use every 2 months.
